Building a Trusted, Conversational Data Layer for Financial Services
Financial services companies rely on data to operate. Things like credit ratings are based on data and market intelligence is built using data. The systems that support these things need to be easy to see, secure and well managed. But the information needed to manage all of this is often found in places, such, as tools used to find information systems that manage assets platforms that provide business intelligence and spreadsheets. Financial services companies need to keep track of all this data to make sure everything runs smoothly.
This fragmentation makes even straightforward questions difficult to answer. How many servers are active? Which assets are vulnerable? Where did a KPI originate? Answering them can involve reconciling several systems, tracing definitions manually, and relying on subject-matter experts to validate the results.
This whitepaper looks at how Altimetrik addressed this challenge for a global financial information and analytics enterprise. The organization had more than 50,000 physical servers recorded across three discovery sources, each presenting a different view of the same environment.
Altimetrik developed a platform that brought these sources together into a governed server-estate dataset. It also introduced automated metadata generation and certification a Supervisor Agent that sends questions to the conversational BI agent and an RDF-based knowledge graph that shares trusted relationships and definitions, with other systems.
Built using Databricks, Microsoft Fabric and a custom multi-agent framework the platform cut down reconciliation and metadata work by about 70 percent. Infrastructure reconciliation tasks that used to take weeks were done in minutes.
The whitepaper also examines the engineering work behind the platform, including reconciling inconsistent asset records, resolving different definitions for the same business concepts, creating conversational BI agents on demand, and producing validated semantic artifacts for other systems to use.
