Executive Summary

A biopharma company wanted to scale AI across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and R&D.  They needed a strong governance framework, solid grounding, and PII protection before considering any AI use case.

We established the governance foundation with LLM Guard, embedding grounding and PII masking before deploying AI use cases. We then introduced an orchestration layer and operational AI capabilities spanning digital twins, IoT-enabled predictive maintenance, and batch-release digitisation. The platform now connects 31 manufacturing sites and has delivered more than $10 million in cost savings.

Business Challenge

The company aimed to expand AI across multiple business functions while retaining control over how each use case accessed, interpreted, and used enterprise information.

The organization required teams to demonstrate governance, grounding, and PII masking before launching any use case. Incumbent providers proposed legacy platform rebuilds requiring 28 months. The company needed a faster solution that preserved security, traceability, and human oversight.

Why It Mattered

The organization could not scale AI without a trusted foundation. Each use case required consistent business context, secure access to enterprise information, and clear source lineage.

A unified orchestration and governance model would enable the company to deploy AI initiatives without rebuilding the foundation for each use case.

Solution

We first implemented LLM Guard to ensure grounding and PII masking before teams launched any AI use cases.

Using ALTi AIOS, we then created a shared AI foundation across manufacturing, quality, supply chain, R&D, and external supply. We connected information from MES, LIMS, enterprise systems, and external manufacturing documents through a common data backbone.

We introduced specialized agents for deviation closure, KPI analysis, root-cause analysis, simulation, search, and document intelligence. The OpenAI Agents SDK coordinated these agents, while API and MCP-based connections provided governed access to enterprise data and services.

We delivered conversational AI, digital twins, technology transfer, network planning, external batch intake, and KPI-monitoring experiences for business users. We also introduced IoT predictive maintenance with batch-release digitisation. We retained human-in-the-loop review for exceptions, while security, audit logging, shared definitions, and source-level lineage supported trusted operations.

Business Outcomes

Operational Savings

The platform eliminated more than 30,000 manual hours and saved over $10 million in cost savings.

Faster Supply Chain Communication

The solution reduced supply chain communication latency by 60%, helping teams coordinate and make decisions faster.

Connected Manufacturing Operations

The company brought 31 manufacturing sites onto one platform, supported by shared AI experiences, governed services, and full lineage to source data.

Altimetrik Advantage

We combined ALTi AIOS, agentic orchestration, and governance-first engineering to deliver production-ready AI for regulated multi-site manufacturing operations.
