A growing fintech lender partnered with Altimetrik to build a world-class data platform aimed at maximizing loan originations, minimizing risk provisioning, and scaling for growth. The existing organization had inconsistent agile maturity and no established data science practices to build on creating a dual challenge of process transformation and platform capability.
Altimetrik rapidly assembled an 83-member team across data engineering, data science, product engineering, and Salesforce engineering, and took a holistic approach to the client’s data platforms filling gaps in DevOps and quality engineering while introducing machine learning-driven risk assessment. The result: 40% higher release velocity and 36% improvement in risk accuracy.
While some teams within the client’s existing IT landscape were familiar with agile ways of working, others were maintaining an outdated SDLC. Key elements of a mature DevOps practice particularly quality engineering automation were missing, limiting the release velocity the business needed to keep pace with a competitive lending market.
From a data analytics and data science perspective, no proven solutions or use cases had been established. The organization had no clear path to turn its data into better lending and risk decisions, leaving it reliant on manual analysis, slower decision cycles, and higher risk provisioning than a data-driven competitor would carry.
In P2P lending, risk assessment accuracy and loan origination velocity are the two most important competitive levers. An organization without machine learning-driven risk models and without consistent release velocity is at a structural disadvantage it lends slower, prices risk less accurately, and responds to market changes more slowly than data-driven competitors.
Altimetrik took a holistic look at the client’s data platforms, data management approach, and use of data for business outcomes, then scaled a team to match the ambition. A 20-member team was ramped in month one; 63 more were added over the next three months, forming six data-engineering, two data-science, three product-engineering, and four Salesforce-engineering scrums.
Machine learning was applied to risk assessment to reduce bad loans and payment delinquency. Visualization capabilities were built to support interest-rate decisions, predictive-uptake models, and what-if analyses giving business teams direct access to the data that drove their decisions.
The platform was built for globalization from the start, spanning multiple regulatory environments, operating processes, and business cultures so the client could scale into new markets without rebuilding the data foundation.
Altimetrik paired rapid, skilled team assembly with a holistic view of data ensuring analytics got embedded in day-to-day business decisions rather than isolated in a specialist team. The result was a more scalable platform and measurably faster, more accurate lending decisions in the same engagement.
As the client continues to grow across new markets and regulatory environments, the same holistic data foundation positions it to keep pace without rebuilding from scratch because the architecture was designed for globalization from day one.
